Microsoft to open source Chakra JavaScript engine

Chakra Core will be available in January on GitHub

Microsoft will open its Chakra JavaScript engine as an open source project on GitHub next month.

The repository of code, called ChakraCore includes key elements of the Chakra engine used for the browser on board, according to a blog.

Like many other manufacturers, Microsoft has built its own JavaScript engine in 2008 as a coding language has become increasingly crucial for the Web and for many other applications, including mobile applications, cloud services, NoSQL databases , game engines and heads.

Microsoft has applied Chakra in many Windows applications in Xbox, your phone and operating system.

In a performance matrix, Microsoft claims that Chakra is faster than competitive engines of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, as well as its own Internet Explorer 11 browser.

ChakraCore can stand on its own and not depend on edge components in the browser to analyze, interpret, compile and run JavaScript.

ChakraCore will initially be available for Windows when its released in January, but plans call for it to other platforms. After the presentation is available, Microsoft will provide guidance on their initial priorities.

"The community is at the heart of any open source project, and we hope that cloning repository community, inspecting the code, build and provide new features for testing or bug fixes," Microsoft wrote.
