Exclusive: Microsoft exec responds to Windows 10 privacy backlash

After a long wait, Microsoft is trying to put things in Windows 10 that collects information about you.

Since Windows 10 was launched in July, it had a direct bearing on how Microsoft uses its new operating system to secretly collect data about customers of CTI.

Microsoft has been accused of lack of transparency in the way that records your keystrokes, actions to your Wi-Fi network access, you use your Internet connection to help customers download updates to Windows 10, and it is forbidden to light any exchange of information.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has remained mostly tight-lipped, denying nothing harmful was generally referring people to STIs while convoluted.
On Monday, Microsoft has issued its first comprehensive response.

In a blog post, Windows director Terry Myerson acknowledged that Windows 10 collects personal information about its customers to allow some of its best features, including virtual assistant Cortana. It also includes information about the performance of your computer to detect and correct errors.

But he said to Windows 10 users can control the information shared with Microsoft.

"We learn how to explain all this to customers," said Myerson CNN Money in an exclusive interview. "Our privacy are well ... Now we have to keep listening and learning."
Microsoft: We need info to make Windows 10 run better

In an attempt to regain the trust of customers, Microsoft has provided examples of this kind of information from Windows 10 refers to Microsoft servers. He also explained why this information is used.

Microsoft said it contains some of what is written so that it can offer personalized self-correction. And share access to their Wi-Fi network (if you click a button) to help automatically connect to your friends in your network (or theirs).

Microsoft (MSFT, tech30) also explained how they turn off - and how to avoid becoming the first to set up your computer.

CNNMoney Myerson confirmed, however, that consumers can not quench data exchange Windows 10. Who sends anonymous information about your PC meets Windows 10 "safety and reliability". Microsoft need this information to solve problems with Windows 10, he said.
"We are not reading your emails"

Much of the anxiety about privacy Windows 10 started because the new operating system uses many more cloud services than previous versions of Windows. Taking the data on their servers, Microsoft needs more permissions than in the past.

But privacy is inherently confusing. The privacy statement, Microsoft says Windows 10 needs access to his emails so you can deliver - but Myerson denied that anyone at Microsoft has the ability to read their e-mails.

"We are not reading their email, but do not have custody of his email," he said. "How do these two things are distilled?"

The company says that customers hear what they say. A change will occur soon in Windows 10 is an adjustment with teenagers in mind, rather than a single parameter for toddlers integrated family privacy.

Privacy concerns are not stopping people from moving to Windows 10, mind you. Windows 10 has been downloaded 75 million times in its first month, which is updating fast pace in the history of Windows. Myerson said customers are mostly satisfied with their experiences of Windows 10.

Recognizing that the conversation private life is not over, Myerson wrote that he and his team "we hope that the next round of questions and comments on these new positions."

"Trust is an essential pillar of our" More Personal Computing vision, and we know we have to win, "says Myerson." I assure you that no other company is more committed, more transparent and more difficult to listen to customers on this important issue we are. "
